Dr. Glenn Schattman
Dr. Glenn Schattman is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and is a specialist in reproductive surgery and Infertility. Dr. Schattman is a leading figure in the use of minimally invasive surgical procedures (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) and performs advanced surgical procedures to correct common causes of infertility including blocked fallopian tubes, adhesions or scar tissue, endometriosis and ovarian cysts. He uses minimally invasive surgical techniques to help patients address problems including infertility, pain, bleeding caused by endometrial polyps or fibroids and other disabling conditions. He was one of the first gynecologic surgeons to perform robotic surgery for reversal of tubal ligation and uterine fibroids and has been performing robotic surgery for more than 3 years. He is actively involved in research on fertility preservation and currently has a number of research protocols investigating the best ways to help patients preserve their potential fertility before undergoing treatments that may cause them to be infertile.
Dr. Schattman earned a B.S. degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York in 1983. He received an M.D. degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York in 1987. Dr. Schattman completed his residency at the George Washington University Medical Center in 1991 and went on to the New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical College where he finished his Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. He is a member or fellow of numerous medical associations including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He currently serves as the Chairman of the practice committee for the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and is a member of the practice committee of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He has authored numerous articles and chapters covering various medical topics. Dr. Schattman lectures and teaches both nationally and internationally on a wide range of topics in reproductive health, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and complex gynecologic surgery.
